Doctor Juhani Salminen began working at KIR in 1969. He is the Head of Research, lead image-analyst, lead data-analyst, & oversees all public relations & outreach.
When Juhani’s parents took entry-level jobs at KIR HQ in 1940, he did not expect that he would become so invested in ‘The Development’ & KIR overall. He dreamt of working as a researcher for KIR & when he got his PHD in astrophysics in 1967 from Cornell, he continuously applied for open positions on the team, until he was finally hired as an imagery-consultant & analyst. He has laid some of the most foundational groundwork 4 KIR & ‘The Development’ as a whole. He developed the first ‘figures’ that illustrate Bortley1 & is considered the most important (living) employee at KIR HQ.
